Paula Villarroel Biography
Recently graduated from Florida International University with an Interior Design Bachelors and a minor in Hospitality, Design Assistant Paula Villarroel has gained much prestige and recognition of her work in school as well as in the professional world. She has assisted architects and designers on a variety of different projects and executed design work for private clients, meeting the needs and expectations of all stakeholders. She has also been involved with many events in South Florida having served in various roles at Miami's HD Boutique, Casa Décor Miami, Design Mix, Coconut Grove's Art Festival and Miami Spice. In addition to her design experience in the industry, Paula worked in the retail industry for 6 years and acquired experience in sales and marketing while developing effective customer service skills and a strong work ethic.
Academic awards and competitions include; FIU Design Excellence Award, Design Mix 2010 Most Outrageous, Festival of the Trees Scholarship Winner 2009, Outstanding Student of the School of Architecture and Interior Design - Miami Dade College Academic Award Ceremony 2008, and First Place Winner of the Getty's Hospitality Design Competition 2007.
Born in Peru and raised in Miami, Paula is fluent in both English and Spanish. She has a passion for travel, a practice which allows her to appreciate the views of different cultures, arts, design, architecture and social behaviors; making her more aware and understanding of each client's distinct views, surroundings and needs. In the future, Paula plans to pursue a Design Management degree, and she continues to attend lectures from many professionals, groups and organizations. Currently working at OII, she works mostly for the design department but always ready to fulfill any duty to get the job done.
